Founded in 2011, the Religion in Society Research Network explores the relationship between religion in society and the changing nature of spirituality. We seek to build an epistemic community where we can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. As a Research Network, we are defined by our scope and concerns and motivated to build strategies for action framed by our shared themes and tensions.
The International Conference on Religion & Spirituality in Society calls for research addressing the following annual themes and special focus

Religion profoundly influences cultural practices, ranging from art and music to language and cuisine. It shapes the way individuals dress, celebrate, mourn, and interact with others. For instance, in Hindu culture, religious beliefs dictate the traditional attire worn during religious ceremonies and festivals, such as sarees for women and dhotis for men.

Religious rituals and traditions provide a sense of identity and community cohesion. They often symbolize important milestones in people's lives and reflect their religious values. Examples include baptism in Christianity, the five pillars of Islam, and the various ceremonies associated with marriage, birth, and death across different religious traditions.
